I have included a range of images on my work in the last year an a half, these range from a children's illustrated book to set design, photographs, recycled craft, life drawing etc. I am delighted with the work I have created and I especially like my Children's illustrated 3 Blind Mice book which I made in a mixed media unit using my skills in textiles and illustration, creating something which I believe to be innovative an unique.
Another unit which really shows off my skills in illustration and designing is my Glamour and Anti-Glamour Illustrations base upon Victorian attire (which I created using watercolour and ink, overlaying these onto photographic backdrops). Another passion of mine lies in photography, portrait, landscape, fashion; I love it all.
I am interested in this textiles course as I truly enjoy sitting at my sewing machine and creating accessories, or working with felts to make brooches, I also love to use textiles in a slightly unorthodox way, such as in my illustrated book, or using unorthodox materials to create something which is usually made using conventional textiles like in my recycled headband where I took apart a disposable camera and used what I had to create a mini outcome.
I have found my Btec course challenging but also very rewarding, having to overcome various problems in order to create a piece of work I am proud of. I work well to set briefs however I am also competent on drawing up my own brief an working to this, as I have done in a couple of units, as well as writing an artist statement about my artwork.
I believe I am a hard worker and I am well organised, so because of this I am able to work to set deadlines and have a complete, exciting, piece of work at the end of it. I am really excited about learning new techniques in the textiles world and putting these to test in garments, accessories, home furnishing etc.
